Austria to focus on cross-border tourism Austria’s promotional funds will mainly be allocated to neighbouring countries this year, says Petra Stolba, head of the Austrian National Tourist Board (ANTB). Outlining Austria’s promotional campaign themes for 2009 at ITB, Stolba said she expects international markets from further afield to decline. ‘‘Our budget is €51 million and we have just received an additional fund of €4 million that will go into promotions in our domestic market and in neighbouring countries,’’ said Stolba. But ANTB will not cut back on marketing efforts in other international markets said Stolba, confirming that the budget for those markets is the same as in 2008. The country’s new slogan ‘Das muss ึsterreich sein/It’s got to be Austria’ will emphasise Austria’s special approach to culture, nature, lifestyle and tolerance, she said.
