Summer in Igls

Igls. The hiking village. Igls is situated on a sunny plateau and makes an ideal departure point for every kind of hike. Some 50 km of way marked trails cover the beautiful country side around Igls. Our detailed hiking map will show you what to look forward to and will also help you to plan your trek. Special tips: the trail from Igls to Lanser See and Seerosenweiher or the hike from village to village at the foot of the Patscherkofel along the so-called "Speckbacherweg", or to the pilgrimage church at Heiligwasser.

The Patscherkofel.
The Mountain experience.

The Patscherkofel is a good starting point for great hikes and alpine tours. The cable car will whisk you up in 20 minutes. The panorama is unique, and on a clear day you can see all the way to the Dolomites, the Ötztal Alps, the Stubai Alps and the Zugspitze. Our tip: take a walk along the "Zirbenweg", a 7-km alpine stroll through the largest single stand of stone pines in the Eastern Alps. Ride up the Patscherkofel, down the Glungezer, a return bus ride to Igls and the 2½-hr hike becomes a piece of cake.

The patscherkofel alpine garden.
The highest botanical garden in Europe. This vast showpiece garden covering an area of 8,500 sq. m at 2,000 m above sea level boasts more than 400 different alpine plants. Open June to September.
